What's in my bag - mixed brand disc golf bag

Updated: Oct 22, 2023

Hello Friends,

Today I’ll share the discs in my bag (at least for now) and my play style. I tend to like trying new brands and if you have a similar play style maybe some of these reviews might encourage you to try a new disc.

First is the bag itself. I recently moved away from the Dynamic Discs Trooper bag (really enjoy this bag still) to the Handeye Civilian Bag.

So far the Civilian bag is just what I was hoping for. It’s got a slightly larger footprint so I can fit two additional discs (23 instead of 21), feels higher quality, and it stands on its own a bit better.

*side note on the bag - At the time of this posting one of the colorways is still on sale for $30 (normally $80)!

For the discs, I’ll group them by type and post the standard flight indicators (Speed/Glide/High Speed Fade, Low Speed Fade). Full disclosure - I’d classify myself as a Power Forehand player. I default to trying to power my discs vs doing touch shots. Max distance around 450’. Formerly a power backhand player but I have a bad throwing elbow now. Arm speed on my backhand was clocked at 64 mph if that helps compare my reviews.

Drivers:

Viking Discs Storm Thunder God Thor (14/5/0/2) - Takes a good charge but have flipped backhand. Very domey.

Discraft Big Z Nuke (13/5/-1/3) - I go back and forth between a Boss and a Nuke. Like both. Currently I have the Nuke as my max forehand distance disc with a big flip and glide.

Infinite Discs Metal Flake Glow C-Blend Pharoah (13/6/-1/2) - This was just the disc I needed for long distance with a full flip but tight corridor. It pops up and banks tight and fast with minimal fade. Would estimate about 400' top distance but with a low ceiling.

Doomsday Discs Uranium Plague (12/5/-1/2.5) - Just added this to the bag. I’m a member of Team Doomsday and like the theme of the brand. The plastic feels nice and flexible on this.

Lone Star Discs Bravo Warbird (12/6/-1/3) - Personally would grade this more like a 12/5.5/0/4 because it’s beefy. I throw full strength anhyzer and it always comes back.

Doomsday Discs Isolation Lockdown (10/5/-1.5/2) - Also new to the bag. Hoping for it to do what my Pharoah does but at lower distances. It’s also my heaviest driver at 177g so thinking it’ll hold up in a little wind better. Will report back.

RPM Discs Platinum Tara Iti (10/5/0/2) - Great for putting power into on a forehand with no flip and it'll turn but not too hard once it's slowing down. I'd rate it close to numbers. Beautiful looking plastic too.

Fairway:

Lone Star Discs Bravo Lariat (9/5/-1/1) - Loved this disc when I first got it as a straight flier that got further than expected. It was a little more temperamental for me later in the season.

Remix Sport Spartan (9/6/-2/1) - Likely the same mold as the TSA Mantra. It’s my flip disc. The -2 is reliable and it’s a cheap enough disc that I can use it as a throwaway when needed.

Discraft Z Predator (9/4/1/4) - Reliable beef. I usually throw it flat and let it slice. Or personally I like to drop on the basket with a spike hyzer when there is a sky gap.

Innova DX Dragon (8/5/-2/2) - Throwaway disc. Floats in water. Easy to throw light and fully flip.

Innova Metal Flake Champion TeeBird (7/5/0/2) - Still working this one in. Had a Teebird years ago that was my best glide disc I’ve ever thrown. This one still cuts more than ideal.

Discmania S-Line FD - True fairway disc. Straight path, little fade. Holds a line.

Midranges:

Axiom Fission Hex (6/5/-1/1) - When I’m trying to hit a distance and sit I like this disc. It’s faster than I first expected but goes through a full S flight and sits well in a relatively tight window.

Dynamic Discs Lucid Justice (5/1/.5/5) - Very stable. Usually I throw it anhyzer cut back or throw it into the ground to skip over.

Mint Discs Sublime Bobcat (5/5/0/2.5) - Straight with speed and cuts. Just what I want from my go-to forehand mid.

Infinite Discs Metal Flake Glow C-Blend Chariot (5/5/0/1) - My heaviest midrange at 180, I also feel good about it consistently holding a straight line.

Discraft ESP FLX Sol (4/5/-3/0) - New to the bag but testing it as my short range flip or attempted roller disc.

Putt & Approach:

Discraft Soft Zone OS (4/2/1/5) - Similar desired flight path as the Justice but this one skips less.

Discraft Cryztal FLX Zone (4/3/0/3) - Get Freaky. Good forehand approach disc for me. I’d grade lower than a 3 fade.

Streamline Soft Electron Stabilizer (3/3/0/2.5) - My go-to circle 2 putter. Flat top, low profile, beadless. Consistent pull. I like to spin putt with some S on the distance putts.

Loft Beta Hydrogen (1/2/0/0) - My close range circle 1 putter. It’s essentially a lid putter. I personally love the hand feel and it’s very straight.

Kastaplast K1 Soft Berg (1/1/0/2) - If I need to run at the basket then stop or drop on it then I like the Berg.

All these discs available at Infinite Discs: https://infinitediscs.com/?tag=1B99EAE4EFCD407 (Commission Earned from this link)

Would also recommend supporting Doomsday Discs direct: https://doomsdaydiscs.com/. My code is “dontpanic” and will get you 10% off. The new Isolation Glow Cataclysm is one of my favorite stamp designs - I bought it as a wall hanger disc.

Wheels up!
